AFRICA. - Henry Morton STANLEY. How I Found Livingstone; Travels, Adventures, and Discoveries in Central Africa; including Four Months Residence with Dr. Livingstone. London: Sampson Low etc., 1872. First edition, 8vo (219 x 136mm.) Half-title, mounted photographic frontispiece, 5 maps including 4 folding, 28 plates, illustrations in the text, 8pp. publisher's advertisements to rear. (1 map with a six-inch closed tear, toning, occasional light spotting.) Original brown blind-stamped cloth (hinges weakened, joints rubbed). Provenance: Walter Beaton (ink inscribed to half-title); Andrew G. Beaton (ink inscribed to half-title). - And a further volume (David and Charles Livingstone's 'Narrative of an Expedition to the Zambesi and Its Tributaries', 1865, 8vo) (2).
