MORISOT, Claude Barthélemy de. Orbis Maritimi sive rerum in mari et littoribus gestarum generalis historia. Dijon: Pierre Palliot, 1643. First edition, 4to (356 x 220mm.) Engraved allegorical additional title in an architectural frame, letterpress title in red and black, 1 engraved plate, 20 engraved illustrations in the text. (Lacking all maps, intermittent browning and spotting, marginal damp-staining.) Contemporary vellum, manuscript lettering to spine (spine panel cracked, repair to top of spine). Note: considered to be the first naval history. Provenance: Louis Bardon (bookplate to front pastedown); Cesare Malfatti (bookplate to front-free endpaper).
