BENSON, A.C. and Lawrence WEAVER and E.V. LUCAS (editors). The Book of the Queen's Dolls' House. London: Methuen & Co., 1924. 2 vols., limited to 1500 copies, inscribed by Queen Mary to Queen Helen of Greece and Denmark, 4to (251 x 193mm.) 92 plates, some in colour, duplicate paper spine labels tipped-in at the end of each volume, loosely inserted portrait card signed 'Aunt Mary, 1948'. (Mild toning.) Original cloth-backed boards with Mary's gilt monogram to upper covers (front hinge weakened to vol. 1). Note: the inscription reads 'For dear Sitta from Aunt Mary, Christmas 1933'. Provenance: Queen Mary (gift inscribed from her to Queen Helen in ink on the front-free endpaper); Queen Helen (gift inscribed to and name-plates on the front pastedowns). - And a further related item also owned by Queen Helen and housed in specially made vellum portfolios (Louisa F. Pesel's 'Stitches from Old English [-Eastern] Embroideries', nos. 1-2 (of 3), [1912-1913], 8vo) (4).
