A late 18th century Indo-Portuguese hardwood and ivory inlaid workbox, the serpentine shaped lid with a central spray of flowers within a border of flowers, palmettes and trailing foliage, the sides with applied white metal key escutcheon and scroll handles, width 48cm (faults). Note: a non-transferrable ivory exemption certificate has been granted for the sale of this item. Provenance: from the principal contents of Stone House, Bolney, West Sussex.
