A late Victorian silver oval basket, the pierced lattice sides cast with a crest engraved oval of the Worshipful Company of Drapers opposing the Hales family crest engraved oval, alternating with flower filled ovals united by bellflower garlands beneath a cast foliate scroll rim and similar handles, raised on pierced foliate scroll feet, the base inscription engraved 'Presented to the Worshipful Company of Drapers to William Hales Esq Who served the Office of Master in the Year 1895', London 1893 by John Aldwinckle & Thomas Slater, weight 2780g, length 51.5cm, height 18cm.
