Trekkie Ritchie Parsons [Marjorie Tulip Ritchie] - 'Haystack, Evening', oil on paper, signed recto, titled and dated 1939 verso, 14cm x 23.5cm, within a stained wood frame. Note: Trekkie Ritchie Parsons matriculated at the Slade School of Fine Art in 1920, where she was taught by Henry Tonks and Philip Wilson Steer. Subsequently, she was employed by Leonard and Virginia Woolf as an illustrator for the Hogarth Press. After the death of Virginia Woolf in 1941, Woolf and Ritchie began an unconventional relationship that lasted until his death in 1969. He was known to refer to her in letters as 'Dearest Tiger' and he bequeathed his home, Monk's House, Rodmell, to Trekkie in his will.
