Robert McLellan Bateman - Burmese Villagers, a pair of oils on canvas laid onto board, both signed, each 39.5cm x 29cm, both within stained wood frames. Provenance: purchased by the vendor's father when working as a member of the British Embassy in Rangoon, Burma, at the same time the Canadian artist was travelling. In his biography 'Life Sketches', Bateman states: 'In Burma, I was painting the villagers,' p.87. A copy of this book is included in the lot.
