LOT 410
A George IV silver goblet, the ovoid bowl with engraved inscription 'From the Empress Eugenie to George Woodford August 1886' within a chased rococo scroll, rocaille and floral surround and band, on a short stem and similarly decorated circular foot with reeded edge, London 1819 by Charles Fox, weight 202.4g, height 15.5cm. Note: Princess Eugenie (1826-1920) was Empress of the French on her marriage to Emperor Napoleon III in 1853. After the second Empire was overthrown, the Empress and her husband took permanent refuge in England, firstly at Chislehurst and then moving to Farnborough in 1885.
