A Chinese famille rose export porcelain teapot and cover and four matching 'eggshell' porcelain teabowls and saucers, Yongzheng period, each piece finely enamelled with panels of a lady and boy seated in an interior setting with female attendant and furniture, reserved against a blue cell diaper ground incorporating butterflies and flowers, within gilt borders, six pieces bearing 'John Sparks Ltd' paper labels, height of teapot 11.8cm, diameter of teabowl 7.2cm, diameter of saucer 11.3cm (minor chip to spout). Provenance: purchased from John Sparks Ltd, London, at the Antique Dealers Fair at Grosvenor House, June 1952, and accompanied by original receipt.
