LOT 1272
An early 19th century mahogany drop dial wall timepiece with eight day single fusee movement, the 12-inch repainted convex circular dial with black Roman hour numerals and inscribed 'Giscard Lynn', the brass bezel with convex glass, within a moulded circular surround, the apron with brass inlaid decoration and recessed panel, flanked by a pair of carved fan mouldings, height 48cm, with pendulum. Note: John Giscard is a recorded clockmaker, born in 1788, working in Norwich circa 1808-17, then Kings Lynn between 1822 and 1830, then Swaffham in 1836 and then London Road, Kings Lynn again between 1847 and 1851.
