An unusual 1845 pattern infantry officer's sword by Alfred Pillin, Sword Cutler, 3 Poland St, London, with single-edged blade, double-edged at tip, blade length 82cm, engraved with foliate decoration, Masonic emblems and 'VR' cypher and indistinctly detailed '? Dawes 89th Regt. July 1849. 97th Regt. July 18??', gilt brass gothic hilt with 'VR' cypher, folding guard and wire-bound fishskin grip, with gilt brass mounted leather scabbard.
