A George IV gold cased keywind open-faced gentleman's pocket watch with unsigned gilt fusee movement and gilt metal dust cover, the engine turned gold dial with Roman hour numerals and three-colour foliate scroll surround, the inner case back detailed 'John Mayall Waterhead Mill', the case with engine turned back and cast foliate sides, Chester 1828 by Edward Kirkman & John Stuart, total weight 98.5g, case diameter 4.7cm, with key. Note: John Mayall (1803-1876) of Waterhead Mill, Oldham, was a cotton manufacturer who established the company of John Mayall & Sons, which was to become probably the largest cotton spinning company in the world.
