LOT 3455
SUSSEX GENEALOGY. An archive of mixed ephemera, papers, letters, correspondence with Comte Pinci, invitations from India, South America and elsewhere, photographs, negatives, 2 Defence Medals with medal cards, passports, etc, principally relating to Jack Crosland Spencer and Angela Elizabeth Simpson / Flemming / Spencer, all contained in a First World War period painted tin despatch box. Note: Angela first married Dr Flemming in 1939 and had a daughter in 1940, but by 1945 she was living with Jack Crosland Spencer who she eventually married. By the summer of 1946 they were both living at Coles Hall, Five Ashes, East Sussex. This archive relates to their near 40 years together and Jack's work as managing director of the firm George Spencer, Moulton & Co, London, later Avon Tyres. Provenance: purchased by the current vendor from Sotheby's as Lot 60 on 7th July 1998.
