A Chinese Canton export sandalwood rectangular box, mid to late 19th century, the hinged lid and front carved in relief with figural village scenes, the sides and back with animal panels, all against a ground of dense scrolling tendrils, the interior velvet lined, length 32.2cm, width 17.5cm, height 16.2cm (minor faults).
