LOT 1126
A George III oak longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the 12-inch brass breakarch dial with silvered boss to arch, detailed 'Time is Precious', above a silvered chapter ring framing a brass centre with silvered subsidiary seconds and date aperture and inscribed 'Mark Noble Peterborough', all within cast and pierced gilt scroll spandrels, the hood with moulded pediment above glazed arch door and turned columns, the crossbanded trunk door on a plain base and bracket feet, height 226cm, with pendulum and two weights. Note: a clockmaker with the surname Noble is a recorded clockmaker working in Peterborough, Northamptonshire, circa 1770-1790.
