CLAYTON. A group of 4 photographic postcards of the march of the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies on Monday 21 July 1913 at Clayton, showing the Suffragists on the NUWSS Great Suffragist Pilgrimage including one of the horse and wagon, all published by F. Douglas Miller. Note: Douglas Miller, his wife and his sister-in-law were all heavily involved in the suffragist movement. After the suffragists failed to make significant progress, a new generation of activists emerged. These women became known as the suffragettes. Provenance: the estate of the Late Rendel Williams.
