A 19th century Indian Mughal Empire steel ankus or elephant goad with damascene decorated shaped blade in the form of a bird, supported on an octagonal shaft with damascened foliate designs terminating in a cast brass zoomorphic finial, unscrewing to reveal a square-section spike, spike length 24cm, overall length 48cm.
