A pre-Columbian Olmec style finely carved amethyst quartz mask, possibly 800-400 BC, with pierced holes to ears and sides, bearing collector's label to reverse, height 13cm, width 11.3cm. Provenance: from the estate of a West Sussex collector. Note: purportedly purchased by an Atlanta, Georgia, book dealer in New Orleans, at an estate sale of a Professor and Head of Archaeology at Tulane University.
