A Chinese Canton export lacquer folding fan, mid-19th century, the two guards and fourteen sticks decorated with gilt figural scenes and flowers, supporting a paper panel finely painted to each side with continuous figural scenes in and out of pavilions, each figure with appliqué ivory facial detail, length 29.5cm, within original lacquer rectangular fitted box, the hinged lid with gilt figural scene, the underside gilt inscribed 'E. Cardinali Canton', length 32.2cm.
