An impressive Chinese archaistic pale celadon jade dragon disc (bi), late Qing dynasty, of flattened circular form, carved in openwork with a kui dragon chasing its own tail and pierced chilong below, the sides incised in low relief with archaistic motifs and scrolls, diameter 18cm, the hardwood stand with curved cradle support, each side carved in relief with a pair of kui dragons above archaistic scrolls, on a stepped rectangular plinth with shaped apron and ruyi head bracket feet, total height 31.4cm. Provenance: acquired by the current vendor in the early 1980s.
