An early Victorian painted wooden truncheon, one end stamped 'Parker Holborn', decorated with the Royal coat of arms above the crest and inscription of the 'Hundred of Whalesbone', dated 1839 and detailed 'WM Lucas', length 46cm. Note: by 1801 the Hundred of Whalesbone in Sussex was made up of the two parishes of Brighton and West Blatchington.
