LOT 1711
A pair of gilt decorated double series opaque twist stem wine glasses, circa 1770, in the manner of James Giles, each ogee bowl decorated with a loose bouquet, scattered hops, sprigs and an insect, above a plain stem with a pair of loose multi-ply corkscrews outside a pair of spiral threads, on conical feet, height 14.5cm (minor faults). Note: a similar glass is illustrated by L.M. Bickerton in 'Eighteenth Century English Drinking Glasses, An Illustrated Guide', p. 350, pl.1,142.
