A large Ridgway lavender blue ground jug, circa 1815-20, sprigged in white with a gryphon and cupid design amidst foliate scrollwork, flanking an urn beneath the mask spout, unmarked, height 17.3cm, together with a similar smaller example with gilt detail, height 13.2cm, and a Ridgway white china jug and cover with lavender blue sprigged decoration, marked '468' to base, height 19cm. Note: similar jugs are illustrated by R.K. Henrywood in 'An Illustrated Guide to British Jugs', p. 102, pls. 283 and 284.
