LOT 1160
A Regency mahogany bracket timepiece with eight day single fusee movement, the 7-inch silvered brass dial with Roman hour numerals and inscribed 'R. Ganthony Lombard St London' and numbered '126', the lancet arched case with brass lion mask and loose ring handles above pierced fret panels, on a plinth base and brass ball feet, height 38.5cm, with pendulum and winder. Note: Richard Ganthony is a recorded London clockmaker, apprenticed in 1785 and made free of the Clockmakers Company in 1794. He set up business in Penton Place, Clerkenwell, before moving to Lombard Street in 1811. He died in 1845.
