A mid-19th century double-barrelled percussion sporting gun by Manton, London, barrel length 79cm, the top rib detailed 'English Damasck', with scale engraved hammers and foliate engraved locks, detailed 'Manton London', the trigger guard finely detailed with a hunting dog, briar-root half-stock, chequered grip and brass-tipped ramrod, within a case containing accessories with later facsimile-copied trade label, together with three books concerning the Manton gunmaking family, comprising 'The Mantons: Gunmakers' and 'The Manton Supplement' by W. Keith Neal and D.H.L. Back, and 'Great British Gunmakers: The Mantons 1782-1878' by D.H.L. Back.
