A Japanese carved and stained ivory netsuke, Meiji/Taisho period, modelled to represent the fable Shita-kiri Suzume (the sparrow with a cut tongue), with a group of six anthropomorphic sparrows surrounding a standing gentleman, incised and stained two-character signature to base, height 3.6cm (minor faults).
