MONTEITH, William. Kars and Erzeroum with the Campaigns of Prince Paskiewitch in 1828 and 1829. London: Longman, Brown, Green et al., 1856. 8vo (222 x 141mm.) Lithographed frontispiece, 1 lithographed plate, large folding map, 24pp. publisher's advertisements to the rear. (Marginal damp-staining to the plates, toning to margins, browning.) Original green blind-stamped cloth (fading to spine). Note: scarce. Monteith was involved in the Russia-Persian wars to the extent that, as diplomat, he was commissioned to take the indemnity payment from the Persian to the Russian camp after the signing of the Treaty of Turkmenchay. Provenance: Frederic Silva (bookplate to the front pastedown).
