LOT 375
A George V silver cigarette box, the hinged lid with applied gold crest to upper left corner and inscribed 'Night Attack 'Adsdean' 20th December 1926. Albert Samuel Akehurst, presented by Lord Louis Mountbatten', Birmingham 1922 by Adie Brothers Ltd, width 8.8cm. Note: accompanied by a signed letter from Mountbatten of Burma, dated 15th March 1979, where he recollects the events of the 20th December 1926, which he refers to as 'The Battle of the Poachers', and his subsequent Christmas day visit to the hospital, where he presented Police Constable Akehurst with fruit, flowers and the cigarette box as a gift.
