MCKELVIE, Colin Laurie and Richard ROBJENT (illustrator). The Woodcock, a Study in Words and Pictures. Norfolk: Fine Sporting Interests, 1988. Limited edition, this being number 296 of 300 copies signed by the author and illustrator and with an original sepia drawing by Richard Robjent, 4to (317 x 238mm.) Numerous colour plates with captioned tissue-guards. Original half brown morocco with gilt vignettes of a woodcock to upper cover and spine, t.e.g., brown cloth-covered slipcase (mark to side panel). - And a further five volumes relating to game birds from the same series, all signed limited editions of the same number (296) with original drawings by Richard Robjent ('The Snipe', 1989, 'The Grouse', 1991, and 'The Partridge', 1993, all written by Colin Laurie McKelvie and 'The Pheasant', 1995, and 'Sporting Wildfowl of the British Isles' by Brian Philip Martin). Provenance: from the estate of the late Frank Warren (6).
