LOT 3127
CRANE, Walter. Of the Decorative Illustration of Books Old and New. London: George Bell and Son, 1896. First edition, 8vo (182 x 140mm.) Numerous illustrations. (Toning, blanks replaced.) Later blue morocco bound by Sangsorki and Suctcliffe with William Russell Flint's key design to upper cover, t.e.g. (slight mark to upper cover). Note: on the front pastedown in William Russell Flint's hand it says the book was awarded to him by the Board of Education, South Kensington, for the 'National Art Competition 1900'. 'What was subject? Anatomy: Bones', he writes. He also notes that he had the book rebound in 1969- which was the year of his death. Provenance: William Russell Flint (inscribed with pencil notes on the front pastedown, from the family by descent).
