Wood-engraved vignette to title, 5 wood-engraved plates, 6 further wood-engraved vignettes. (Spotting to front and rear leaves and to plate margins.) Contemporary marbled calf, red morocco lettering piece to the spine (upper cover nearly detached, rubbing.) Provenance: Guy F. Ferrand (bookplate to the front pastedown). - And a further illustrated volume (Samuel Howitt's 'A New Work of Animals, Principally Designed From The Fables of Aesop, Gay and Phaedrus' [55 engraved plates], 1811, 4to) (2).
