AFRICA. - Henry RUSSELL. The Ruin of the Soudan, Cause Effect and Remedy. London: Sampson Low, 1892. First edition, 8vo (214 x 131mm.) 11 plates, 2 folding maps, including the large linen-backed map to rear, being a facsimile of that drawn by General Gordon in 1874. (Toning, occasional spotting, stamp and name inscribed to title, inked reference number to initial blank.) Near contemporary red morocco over red cloth covers, black morocco lettering piece to the spine (rubbing to all extremities). Provenance: Tarcowie Institute (bookplate to the front pastedown). - And a further fifteen volumes relating to the Sudan, Egypt and General Gordon (including Count Gleichen's 'With the Camel Corps Up the Nile', 1888, 8vo) (16).
