ANTIQUITIES. - Bernard de MONTFAUCON. The Travels of the Learned Father Montfaucon from Paris thro' Italy. London: by D.L. for E. Curll, 1712. First English translation, small 4to (184 x 108mm.) 4 engraved folding plates, 1 plate and numerous engraved illustrations in the text, 13pp. index and 1pp. publisher's advertisement to rear. (Browning, annotations in ink on the initial blank and occasionally thereafter, ink scrawl to margin of title-page, blank replaced at rear.) Late 18th century calf, black morocco lettering piece to the spine, g.e. (loss to top of spine, some discolouring to boards, light rubbing, upper joint splitting, endpapers replaced). Note: there is a variant edition that has an additional title-page and the publication date in Arabic, this edition doesn't have the additional title and the date is in Roman numerals. Provenance: Edward Mangin (bookplate to the front pastedown and ink name on title-page). [ESTC T110070.]
