Original green boards (loss to half of spine, rubbing to extremities). Note: limitation number in ink. Cumming's first book of poems had appeared two years earlier, in 1923. Cummings wanted that volume to be called 'Tuilips & Chimneys' but the publisher over-ruled and the book came out as 'Tuilips and Chimneys' and with fewer poems than he wanted. So Cummings privately printed this volume which contains those excluded poems and is titled, simply, '&'. An early example of his typographical originality.
