FONTAINE, Jean de la. Oeuvres Complètes de la Fontaine, ornées de cent vingt gravures, d'après les dessins de Desenne, Chaudet, Huet, etc. Paris: chez A. Nepveu, 1820-1821. 18 vols., 12mo (152 x 96mm.) 136 engraved plates, also with C.A. Walckenaer's 'Histoire de la Vie et des Ouvrages de J. De la Fontaine'. (Browning, intermittent spotting, sometimes heavier in preliminaries.) Mid-19th century brown calf over marbled paper-covered boards, two black morocco pieces to the spines, t.e.g. (some rubbing to spine ends, slight loss to top of spine of volumes 1 and 18, minor loss to lettering piece of volume 1, browning to bookplates). Provenance: Ernst Leopold S. Benzon (bookplates to the front pastedowns) (18).
