LOT 1150
A mid-18th century ebonized bracket clock with eight day twin fusee movement striking hours on a bell, the backplate with foliate scroll engraved decoration, the brass breakarch dial with matt centre and silvered date aperture, framed by a silvered chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals and outer Arabic minutes, cornered with cast and pierced gilt foliate scroll spandrels, the arch with silvered subsidiary strike/silent and regulation dials flanking a recessed silvered signature plate, inscribed 'Conyers Dunlop London', the case with moulded arch pediment and brass carrying handle above glazed front and back doors, flanked by a pair of pierced foliate scroll fret panels, on a moulded rectangular plinth base and brass bracket feet, height 42cm. Note: Conyers Dunlop is a recorded London clockmaker, apprenticed in 1725, becoming a member of the Clockmakers Company in 1733. He became Master of the Clockmakers Company in 1758 and died in 1779.
