A Sumerian terracotta cuneiform foundation cone, reign of Lipit-Ishtar of Isin, 1934-1924 BC, from the House of Justice at Isin, inscribed with columns of text and bearing inscribed collection number to base, length 11.2cm (some burial adhesion and loss of surface), together with the top section of another foundation cone, reign of Ur-Nammu of Ur, from the Ziggurat at Ur, length 5cm. Provenance: from the estate of a West Sussex collector. Note: these symbolic pegs were embedded into temple walls to commemorate the royal builder.
