An early 18th century oak cased longcase clock, the thirty hour movement striking on a bell, the 11-inch square brass dial with silvered chapter ring framing a silvered centre with date aperture and inscribed 'Edwd Bilbie Chewstoke', all cornered with cast and pierced gilt brass urn and scroll spandrels, the veneered case with moulded pediment and glazed hood door, flanked by turned columns, the arched trunk door with inlaid star motif within carved foliate bands, on a plain base and bracket feet, height 228cm, with pendulum, weight and winder (alterations and restoration). Note: Edward Bilbie is a recorded clockmaker working in Chewstoke, Somerset, between 1699 and 1724.
