FLAXMAN, John. The Iliad of Homer. London: Longman, Hurst, Rees & Orme, 1805. Oblong 4to (268 x 418mm.) Engraved additional title and a further 39 plates engraved by Tommaso Piroli, including 3 by William Blake after designs by Flaxman. (Lacking title, preliminaries loose, heavy spotting to first three plates, moderately thereafter.) Contemporary half calf over marbled-paper covered boards, black morocco lettering piece to spine (rubbing to extremities). Provenance: John Francis Davis (bookplate to the front pastedown); H.G. Smith (bookplate to rear pastedown). - And a further fourteen illustrated volumes (including John Everard's 'Living Colour', 1937, 4to, and 'The Art Journal Illustrated Catalogue: the Industry of All Nations', 1851, 4to) (15).
