Bible, In English. The Holy Bible Containing the Old Testament and the New, Translated out of the Original Tongues With the Former Translations Diligently Compared and Revised. London: George Eyre and Andrew Strahan, 1816. 12mo (114 x 59mm.) (Toning.) Contemporary red straight-grain morocco, blind-tooled, rolling volute gilt tooling within fillet borders, g.e. (some loss to base of spine), contained within a black velvet-lined wooden box with a lock of hair contained under glass within the lid, a key, and a brass name-plate to the lid. Provenance: Hale Young Wortham, Royal Engineers (name inscribed verso the front-free endpaper and engraved on the name-plate of the box). Most likely given to H.Y. Wortham by his wife when going on military service.
