LOT 1301
An English Delft charger, Bristol, circa 1755-60, painted in blue with pierced rockwork issuing bamboo and peony, the rim with six floral groups, to the underside alternating dashes and crosses, diameter 33cm (glued section to rim), together with another charger and three plates, each painted with the same pattern, charger diameter 30.5cm (some fritting and glaze loss). Note: this pattern is illustrated by Michael Archer 'Delftware The Tin-Glazed Earthenware of the British Isles', page 187, B.148. Provenance: from the collection of the late Professor Maurice Stacey.
