LOT 1204
A late 19th/early 20th century French brown patinated spelter and marble mantel clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the enamel dial with Arabic numerals and flower festoons, the case modelled after Canova as Cupid and Psyche on a bowfront marble base bearing titled plaque 'Amour et Psyche...', height 57.5cm, with pendulum and key. Note: the original marble sculpture by Antonio Canova, known as Psyche Revived by Cupid's Kiss, has been exhibited at the Louvre Museum in Paris since 1824.
