London: Daldy, Isbister & Co., 1877. 2 vols., first edition, 8vo (218 x 136mm.) 2 wood-engraved frontispieces with tissue-guards, 31 plates with tissue-guards, including 4 facsimiles, folding colour map in pocket at rear of volume 1, 4pp. and 8pp. publisher's advertisements. (Toning, occasional spotting, corner cut to front-free endpaper of volume 1, inner hinges weakening.) Original blue cloth, pictorial gilt to upper covers. Note: originally intent on assisting Dr. Livingstone, Cameron departed from Zanzibar but, having heard of Livingstone's death, he carried on and became the first European to walk across Equatorial Africa. Provenance: Pearson Worthington (name inscribed to half-titles).
