A pearlware plate with unusual blue painted figural design, late 18th century, depicting a chinoiserie figure carrying a basket, the notched rim with simple stylized foliate design, diameter 24.3cm (faint starcrack), together with a similar plate, painted in blue with a Long Eliza type figure, diameter 24cm. Note: the first plate is illustrated by Lois Roberts in 'Painted in Blue', published by The Northern Ceramic Society, p.152, fig. 280 d. Provenance: from the collection of Jennifer Moody.
