An archive of material relating to John Palmer, including photographs taken when Captain during the Second World War, as well as letters and press and other photographs from his work as production manager on films such as Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago, including 3 typed letters signed by director David Lean, one dated July 5th 1963 mentions the Profumo affair 'I can't tear myself away from the papers because I'm just mad about the Profumo - Keeler hilarities. Real and imaginary', and also announcing 'I'm going to make another picture - Not The Keeler Story but Doctor Zhivago by Pasternak and asking Palmer to join as production manager, another letter dated September 9th '63 formalises the offer and the final letter dated June 14th 1964 discusses more technical and budget queries. The archive also includes a folio of letters and notes regarding Libya as a filming location for Lawrence of Arabia, circa 1960, a programme for the 'Royal World Premiere' of Lawrence of Arabia on December 10th 1962 with accompanying 'Supper Party' menu from Grosvenor House, and a signed photograph of Laurence Olivier in naval costume dedicated and dated 1958, 33cm x 26.5cm.
