HERCULANEUM. - [Ottavio Antonio BAYARDI. Catalogo Degli Antichi Monumenti Dissotterrati Dalla Discoperta Citta de Ercolano, per Ordine della Maesta di Carlo re delle due Sicilie. Naples: Regia Stampera, 1755-1792.] Folio, (500 x 376mm.) A collection of 96 leaves from between 'Tavola' 9 and 58 of this work, comprising 43 engraved plates, including 1 double-page folding plate of an etching by Rocco Pozzi, numerous engraved illustrations, initials and ornaments. (Occasional soiling and chipping to margins.) 20th century brown half-morocco, paper label onlaid to spine (endpapers and blank leaves replaced). Note: mounted onto the front pastedown is a printed image of the title-page of the 1752 'Prodromo delle Antichita d'Ercolano' which was the preliminary study for this work published in quarto. The leaves bound here are from the main folio work that was published between 1755 and 1792 and came in nine volumes.
