ANATOMY. - James Benignus WINSLOW. An Anatomical Exposition of the Structure of the Human Body, translated from the French Original by G. Douglas. London: J. Knapton, H. Woodfall, J. Rivington, et al., 1763. 2 vols. in 1., fifth edition, 4to (249 x 188mm.) 4 folding engraved plates to rear after Bartolomeo Eustachi. (Browning, occasional crease.) Contemporary calf, red morocco lettering piece to the spine (rubbing to extremities). Note: originally published in French in 1732, and considered to be the first work of descriptive anatomy. Provenance: G. Coltman (ink name to f.f.e.p.).
