A Scottish provincial silver shaped rectangular buckle, circa 1830, decorated in relief with thistles against a textured ground within cast scroll borders, mark for Aberdeen and double-struck maker's mark 'WJ', length 8.3cm. Note: see page 535 of Jackson's 'English Silversmiths and Their Marks' for an illustration of a similar mark.
