HORSES. - Strickland FREEMAN. The Art of Horsemanship, Altered and Abbreviated, According to the Principles of the late Sir Sidney Medows. London: printed for the author by W. Bulmer and Co., 1806. 4to (276 x 204mm.) Engraved silhouette portrait frontispiece, 15 plates by H.B. Chalon, 1 folding, numerous illustrations within the text. (Lacking pp. 9-11, browning, some spotting to plate margins.) Later green half-morocco, five raised bands to spine with gilt lining and decoration to the bands, gilt lettering to the second compartment (rubbing to extremities). Note: the silhouette portrait of Sir Sidney Medows shows him on horseback, aged 90. Provenance: Charles B. Godman (bookplate to the front pastedown).
