MIDDLE EAST. - Laurent D'ARVIEUX. The Travels of the Chevalier D'Arvieux in Arabia the Desart; Written by Himself, and… giving a very Accurate and Entertaining Account of the Religions, Rights, Customs, Diversions, &c. of the Bedouins, or Arabian Scenites. London: for B. Barker and C. King, 1732. Second edition, 12mo (162 x 93mm.) 5 engraved plates, engraved initials and ornaments, includes 'A General Description of Arabia' by the Sultan Ishmael Abulfeda with a separate title dated 1718, continuous pagination. (Browning, minor soiling, one text leaf supplied in facsimile onto contemporary paper, lacking initial and rear blanks, occasional corner creasing.) Modern brown half-morocco, red morocco lettering piece to the second compartment of the spine, repeating gilt motif to the rest (endpapers and blank leaves replaced). Note: collates: A-Q11. Provenance: Selbourne library (two small stamps, one verso of title, another at D2).
